To check your Porsche 924's Bosch fuel system to see if it has acceptable fuel pressure be sure to have the right tools (see below). Take caution that you are working with fuel and must take the necessary precautions. I recommend having your car warm before doing this test to get an accurate pressure check. Acceptable control pressures vary greatly depending on outside temperatures. To test your system properly, be sure to get an accurate temperature reading first. Then the formula consists of: For every 18 degrees F increase (10 degrees C) you should
add .4 to the max. acceptable amount of pressure in the system.
At 50 degrees F (10 degrees C) the fuel pressure should be at a max. of 1.35 kg-cm2 (20 psi) with a minimum pressure at .95 kg-cm2 (15 psi) |
